We are thrilled to announce that Matthew Bowden has been named the new Chief Technology Officer of UnionHub. Matthew has been with UnionHub since its earliest days, designing and building the platform’s backend infrastructure from the ground up. His vision and leadership have helped shape UnionHub into the secure, scalable, and high-performing platform it is today.
A Career Built on Innovation
Before joining UnionHub, Matthew worked as an independent contractor where he built systems across industries—ranging from conference applications and browser-based call centers to financial management platforms for retirement and college savings. He also designed impactful government solutions, including a multi-tenant SaaS for Colorado counties to streamline SNAP and housing benefits, and a municipal budget system for a city managing more than $500 million annually.
Matthew’s career reflects not just deep technical expertise, but also a passion for building systems that make a real difference in people’s lives.
At UnionHub
Matthew has been instrumental in creating UnionHub’s secure, highly available, and scalable platform. While he is proud of the team’s technical achievements, he emphasizes that what matters most is the culture the company has built together:

In Matthew’s words, “We don’t take ourselves too seriously – this enables us to ALWAYS be learning. Building scalable systems that solve problems that haven’t been solved before is a lot of work, but it’s incredibly rewarding, and it’s so much fun to work alongside people I genuinely enjoy being around.”
UnionHub’s development team is largely made up of engineers with less than five years of experience, and under Matthew’s leadership, they are thriving—growing their skills with each sprint and consistently delivering outstanding results.
Beyond Technology
Outside of work, Matthew is a devoted husband to his wife, Rachel, whom he married in 2007, and a proud dad of three. Together, they enjoy traveling and spending time exploring the outdoors in Colorado.
